Moriarty’s Centra Kingdom of Kerry Rally Championship
Organisers of the Moriarty’s Centra Kingdom of Kerry Rally Championship have released details this year’s series that will begin with the Rose Hotel Circuit of Kerry on April 5.
The return of the Kerry Winter Rally means there a few changes to the scoring system. Competitors must start at least three rounds to eligible for points at the end of the season.
However, in an effort to encourage more entries for local rallies, competitors best four out of five scores will count meaning that the more events entered the better chance of getting a county medal at the end of the year.
Historic drivers will need to enter either Circuit of Kerry or Kerry Winter rally alongside the Historic Rally and the two days of the Rally of the Lakes to be in with a chance of either the overall or historic titles.
The junior element of the championship will be contested over three rounds and juniors will need to start the Circuit of Kerry, Rally of the Lakes and the Kerry Winter Rally to qualify.
“The purpose of this championship is to encourage more Kerry-based drivers to enter Kerry rallies – and to have a proper party at the end of the year,” said championship sponsor Mike Moriarty.
Entrants must be living in County Kerry and be a member of at least one of the clubs in the county to enter the series.
Also new for 2020 is the addition of an overseas award aimed at Kerry ex-pats living abroad.
The championship’s launch will coincide with the launch of the Circuit of Kerry and further details of the series will be revealed at this event.
